On the notifications page you have full control over every type of message/notification you wish to receive.
How do I control who can send me messages?
From the user menu at the top of every page of the site, move your mouse cursor over the “My Account” link and then over “Settings” from the dropdown menu that will appear, then click on the “Message Privacy” link. On that page you can select from:
- All members can contact you.
- Only members you have accepted a friend request from can contact you.
- Only members in an “allow list”.
You can also block certain members by adding their username to your “banned users” list on the Message Privacy page.
I am receiving spam personal messages/I have seen spam posted on a status update/blog.
If you receive a personal message from a spammer, please report it. There are two ways to report message spam:
1. Create a new personal message and send to user “jazbo”. Use the word “spam report” as the message title, and in the body include the username of the spammer.
2. Click on the username of the person who sent you the spammy message from the messages screen. On their profile page click on the flag member icon. This will send a report to our admins who can then look at what that member is doing.
If you see spam on the site, for example in a status update, click on the “flag” icon to report that member.
You can also flag inappropriate content on 6sided network blogs and comments on blogs. If you see blatant spam blogs or comments on blogs, or anything that could be deemed libelous, infringing copyright etc, please click the “flag as inappropriate” link to allow us to police the network.
How do I create a gallery within the MiniPics section?
From the user menu at the top of every page of the site, move your mouse cursor over the “My Account” link and then click on “Gallery”. On the Gallery page you will see links that will allow you to create a gallery, upload pics and edit pics and galleries. YOu can upload multiple images at once y clicking browse, double clicking a photo, then clicking browse again to add more photo’s (it’s easy, try it!). We don’t recommend uploading more than a handful of photo’s at a time however. Each gallery is limited to 50 images and each image is limited to 2Mb.
How do I see whats happening on 6sided?
Click on “Activity” from the main site menu (top of site). The activity page lists everything happening on 6sided, new members, new blos, new posts, latest comments and MiniPic uploads.
What is the point of the “friends” feature?
If you send/accept friend requests, it places all your friends on the “Friends” page of your account. This means people whose blogs, photo’s or comments appeal to you are all in one place. You can then click on their name to see what their latest activity and communicate with them. Having friends also gives you control over your message privacy because you can exclude non-friends from contacting you.
What is the activity stream?
Just like Facebook, your activity stream shows what you have done on the site recently. People can click to reply to things you have done, building public conversations about all things wargaming. If you click on “My Account > Activity” from the user menu at the top of the site, you can type a status update. Why would you do this? To tell the world what you are doing, just like on Facebook or other social networks.
What are Groups?
Anyone can start a group. Once created, a group will appear in the groups section and people can join it. Each group has its own MiniPics feature, so anyone in the group can upload galleries, creating a shared photo archive. Propl in a group can also discuss things with each other via the shared group activity stream, allowing people to ask questions and discuss the topic that the group was created for. The group owner can also edit and manage the group using the management links only he/she will have access to.
Can I use pictures in my MiniPic galleries in my main blog?
Yes! Click on the “share” link above an image, and you will see an embed code. Simply copy that code by highlighting it with your mouse, right clicking and selecting “copy”. To add the image to a blog post, click on the “media” icon above the editor (the place you type out your blog post). Click on the “from URL” link and then paste the embed code into the “image URL” field and then add it to your blog post as usual.
